  • Understanding the World

The children learn about the past and present, the natural world and people and communities. Children talk about their own history and experiences which are celebrated and family history timelines displayed. Children pin on a map places where they have family ties and celebrate their heritage. We read stories and teach children about different countries, communities and cultural events. We learn about different festivals throughout the year.

Children enjoy being outside and have the opportunity to grow herbs, which they can use in cooking in the mud kitchen, they plant and grow vegetables and observe mini-beasts and other garden visitors.

We also visit Bushy Park a number of times each year for a nature walk and to observe seasonal changes.
